Describe the same journey first
Give both companies the same collection and return dates, times, delivery address and vehicle requirements . Write the hotel name or full address instead of just “Kyrenia delivery”; state from the start if collecting at Ercan and returning elsewhere.
Match automatic transmission, passenger count and luggage needs. Find out whether the quote is for a specific model or an “or similar” car in the same class. Check the driver's age and licence eligibility before booking too.
How do you get from the daily rate to the total price?
When comparing daily car rental prices in Cyprus, start with daily rate × number of charged days , then add compulsory charges and chosen extras not already included. If rates vary by day, add each day's charge separately. A “daily rate” does not mean a one-day booking is accepted.
Friday 10:00 → Monday 10:00: 72 hours. Returning on Monday at 18:00 makes it 80 hours. Ask the quote whether those eight hours count as extra hours or an extra day, and whether any grace period applies; do not calculate using calendar dates alone.
The minimum rental period is a separate condition. ERM's current car search specifies a three-day minimum; check the terms for your chosen vehicle and dates. If you only need a car for two sightseeing days, ask separately whether the request can be accepted and, if so, how many days will be charged.
Do not confuse three different amounts
- Rental total
- Rental, tax, compulsory charges and chosen extras for the whole period. Compare quotes using this total; do not add included items again.
- Deposit / pre-authorisation
- Any temporary security: money collected or credit blocked on a card. This amount may temporarily be unavailable. Read deduction and release conditions; do not add it to the total as a normal rental expense.
- Damage excess
- The share you may owe for damage covered by the contract. It is not a liability ceiling applying in every case; ask about exclusions and reporting requirements.
An advance payment is not a security deposit. If the amount paid when booking is part of the rental price, deduct it when calculating the remaining rental balance. See the remaining rental payment at collection separately from any additional security in the final quote.
A “full insurance” label does not explain coverage by itself. Ask about glass, tyres, keys and named-driver conditions. A broker's reimbursement protection does not automatically remove the rental company's deposit or damage charge.
Compare these six lines in the quote
The quote with a lower daily rate may cost more once all services are added. Do not assume an unlisted item is free.

A's 6,000 TRY rental looks lower, but after adding collection/return, B is 200 TRY cheaper overall. The deposit is not added to this spending total.

If paying in a different currency, ask about the exchange rate, whether card payment changes the amount and how long the quote is valid. Being able to cancel is not the same as receiving a full refund. Do not use the old total if the time, vehicle or delivery location changes.
