Distinguish the village name from the hotel entrance
Çatalköy is an accommodation area east of Kyrenia combining coastal surroundings and village character. The municipality's village introduction highlights stone houses and narrow streets. However, Çatalköy appearing on a booking address does not mean you can walk straight into those streets. First identify your accommodation's main entrance, access to the coast and pedestrian conditions on its road.
Save the gate where you will be met on your map, not just the hotel name. A large property's service entrance, reception and event venue may be in different places. If staying in a house or apartment, also note the block name, door details and key collection arrangements. These details help both your first arrival and evening return.
Make a local plan for your first free day
You could spend the day after arrival getting to know your surroundings rather than visiting distant stops. Combine a short village walk with a meal or coffee break; if staying in a home, buy water and essentials on the same outing. Do not assume every business you see along the road is open or reachable on foot; also consider what you will need on your return.
If heading to the coast, first choose your beach. Hotel guest access and day entry for non-residents may have different conditions. Are the beach, pool, food and towels included in the same package; which areas can children use? Ask the business to establish your budget and what you need to bring. Acapulco's property introduction is one example of the area's hotel experience; acceptance of outside visitors needs separate confirmation.
Three different outings from one accommodation base
| The day you want | Main destination | Combining stops |
|---|---|---|
| City and culture | Kyrenia Castle, harbour and old streets | Arrange transport to the centre, then make one walking route there. |
| Village and architecture | Bellapais | Watch the abbey's last admission; keep an Ozanköy stop optional. |
| Sea and nature | Your chosen beach or Alagadi | Plan ordinary beach use separately from a turtle activity. |
Spread these three days across your holiday's free days rather than squeezing them into one afternoon. You do not have to add another coastal outing after a day with a long meal or castle visit in the centre.
Do not treat Alagadi and Esentepe as the same neighbourhood
If considering a wider trip east, choose your destination by name. Alagadi is considered separately for its beach and conservation activities; Esentepe is considered separately for staying there and repeated daily journeys. Do not apply a walking description for Çatalköy to all these places.
For an evening activity at Alagadi, first obtain participation confirmation from the organiser. Separately consider children's willingness to wait and your journey back at night. If you want a daytime swim, compare beaches you can choose without making a wildlife observation booking.
Do not automatically choose a car for your whole holiday
If your hotel has a shuttle to the centre or an included transfer, check its days, times and return conditions. If you only need transport for a specific event, also compare a taxi or transfer for the same address and number of people. A rental car may be more useful if exploring several areas independently, but compare the number of days you need it with the rental periods actually available.
For hotel car delivery, provide the date, time, exact entrance, passenger numbers and luggage details together. The hotel delivery guide explains this preparation. If drinking alcohol at dinner, leave driving out of your plan and arrange your return to your accommodation in advance.
