How to Get from Ercan Airport to Kyrenia: Distance, Shuttle, Taxi & Car Hire

Which transport makes more sense for you?

One or two people, light luggage, central accommodation: Start with KIBHAS. Check the route from the stop to the hotel's vehicle entrance. A distance that looks short may not be an easy walk with suitcases and slopes; add any required taxi fare to the ticket cost.

Families with children, many suitcases or limited mobility: Compare taxis and pre-arranged transfers by their total door-to-door price. Alongside passenger numbers, state child-seat, folded pushchair and wheelchair needs; confirm vehicle and equipment suitability in advance.

Visitors exploring different areas over several days: Assess a rental car alongside the airport journey, return and trips throughout the holiday. If staying at the hotel for most of your holiday, hiring only for the days you will use it is also worth comparing.

How many kilometres and minutes from Ercan to Kyrenia?

ERM's Ercan page lists central Kyrenia as approximately 44 km awaywith a normal car journey of 35–40 minutes . For a direct drive to central Kyrenia, allowing 40–60 minutesis our planning suggestion with extra time added to that estimate. Your route, traffic and hotel's location may change the distance or duration.

This time does not start when the aircraft lands. Passport control and baggage, leaving the terminal, waiting for a service or collecting a car take additional time. With KIBHAS and shared transfers, allow for intermediate stops too.

If staying in Alsancak, Lapta, Çatalköy or Bellapais, do not give only “Kyrenia” as your destination. Share the hotel's full name and vehicle-entrance location and obtain time and price quotes for that address.

Comparing KIBHAS, taxis, transfers and rental cars

Do not compare one person's ticket with a taxi quote for the whole family. For a rental car, compare the amount payable for the entire period with arrival + departure + other holiday journeys . A one-way transport calculation and a multi-day usage budget measure different scopes.

KIBHAS Kyrenia stops, timetables and luggage allowance

On the official KIBHAS website, select the origin as Ercan Airportand destination as Kyrenia . Check stops and services for your own travel date. For the journey from Kyrenia back to Ercan, open the reverse-direction list; do not use one direction's times for the other.

Examples of stops shown for Ercan → Kyrenia on 12 October 2026: KIBHAS Centre, Girne Öğretmenevi, Pia Bella Hotel, Molto Market Karakum and Girne American University. These examples do not show stop order; choose for your travel date on the official screen.

To confirm the stop and boarding point: KIBHAS Ercan line: +90 533 870 78 48 or Kyrenia line: +90 533 870 78 46. When calling, give your travel date and hotel and ask: “I will travel from Ercan to Kyrenia; which stop should I get off at, where do I board at the terminal and how early should I be there?”

Before choosing a stop that appears close to your accommodation, check the exact drop-off point and how you will reach the hotel entrance . A hotel name in a stop name does not mean transport to reception. For a night arrival, also confirm that the final connection is available at that hour.

• Luggage: KIBHAS's official FAQ states two free pieces of luggage not exceeding 30 kilograms, with an extra charge above the limit. Separately ask about luggage distribution among your group and special items such as pushchairs.
• Child fares: The same source states that children under 5 travel free and those aged 5 and above pay. Do not use free-ticket information as a substitute for the seating and safe transport arrangements a child needs; tell the provider your requirements.
• Departure time: KIBHAS states that a full vehicle may leave before its scheduled time. Confirm when you must be at your chosen stop.

Calculate the door-to-door total, not just the ticket price

Shuttle total = number of paid tickets × ticket price per person + extra luggage + transport from the stop to the final address. For example, two adults and a 6-year-old child require three paid tickets under KIBHAS's stated age rule.

Ask whether taxi and transfer quotes are per person or per vehicle. Below, enter the whole group's one-way total in TL for the same final address . Before dividing a return quote for this calculation, obtain separate outward and return amounts from the provider.

The lowest price does not mean a vehicle meets your needs. If you must change vehicles at the final stop, find a child seat or wait for a night service, include those steps in your decision too.

What a taxi or private-transfer quote should include

When requesting a quote, include the flight date and number, landing time, hotel name and map link, all passengers and luggage in the same message. You can then compare prices from different providers for the same journey.

• Meeting arrangements: The exact meeting point and a contact telephone number.
• Vehicle: Capacity suited to passengers, suitcases, pushchairs and any mobility support needs.
• Child seats: Number needed and each child's age, height and weight; confirmation that suitable seats will be provided.
• Total price: One way to the final address; whether waiting, night hours and extra services are included.
• Delays and cancellation: Who to inform about delays, flight tracking and any waiting or cancellation conditions.

If your hotel transfer is shared, it may visit other properties. If you want to travel directly, ask “Is the vehicle reserved exclusively for our group?” before booking.

How does the Ercan process work if you choose a rental car?

ERM plans Ercan collection in advance using your booking and flight details. Your journey follows four steps:

1. Report your arrival. After collecting your luggage, leave the terminal and cross the pedestrian crossing. Head left to the outside Mirandus Cafe ; the café inside the terminal is a different location.
2. Meet the team. If your latest meeting message includes a registration plate, colour or model, compare it with the arriving vehicle. Contact the team if unsure.
3. Travel to the handover area. The team's vehicle takes you to the ERM collection and return point near the airport.
4. Check the car together. After completing driving-licence, contract, existing-damage, fuel and mileage records, you set off in your rental car.

ERM's stated time under normal conditions is approximately 15–20 minutes from meeting the team to leaving in your rental car. Passport control and baggage waiting are not included. Ercan collection and return are free on the current location page.

What changes for a night arrival, delay or departure day?

State the calendar date clearly for a flight after midnight. “12 October 00:30” means 12 October, during the night from 11 to 12 October. Share the local arrival date and time on your ticket. Avoid ambiguous wording such as “Sunday night”.

For KIBHAS, check the service on your date and the departure you can catch after leaving the terminal. The aircraft's landing time is not when you are ready for the shuttle. If no suitable service is available, clarify a taxi or pre-arranged transfer, or night collection if hiring a car, before arrival.

ERM can plan collection and return outside office hours with advance notice. For delays, send the new time and flight information to the team. Follow the latest meeting message sent to you.

Work backwards to plan your return

Start with the time your airline requires you to be at the terminal; plan the car return or shuttle connection and hotel departure accordingly. ERM recommends reaching the collection and return point approximately two hours before your flight. If the airline requires an earlier terminal arrival, bring forward the return and terminal transfer too.

For the KIBHAS return journey, use the boarding time for your selected stop. At some stops, boarding is earlier than departure from the central station. Do not rely solely on your arrival stop's name or the general Kyrenia departure time; confirm the return direction and your own stop's time.
