Do not check only whether a passenger service runs between two ports. Find out whether the vessel on your dates carries vehicles and the acceptance conditions for your vehicle type. Check how departure port, arrival port and return choice are entered in the booking together with the vehicle.

Compare booking details with the registration document; check separately that passenger tickets and vehicle registration are both complete.
Do not apply passenger ID-card travel information to vehicle crossings
Akgünler's official FAQ page requires a passport when travelling from Turkey with your own vehicle. Therefore, do not automatically apply ID-card travel information heard about passengers without cars to driver and vehicle procedures. Confirm with the carrier and authorised border or customs authority for your nationality, direction of travel and vehicle-registration status.
Check that the passport, driving licence and registration document match the correct person and vehicle. Prepare by asking about document validity, whether originals are required and any additional permissions. Buying a ticket does not mean all entry and vehicle procedures have been approved in advance.
Ask early if the vehicle is not registered in your name
The vehicle may belong to a relative, a company or be registered under an arrangement involving a finance provider. Do not wait until the last day at the port to discover the necessary authorisations and permissions. Clearly describe the ownership shown on the registration and ask which document must be obtained from which institution.
The scope of a power of attorney, company authority, finance permission or registration particulars may differ between travellers. This guide does not reduce acceptance rules that may vary with vehicle age or family relationship to one fixed list. Match current requirements with the authorised body; do not assume missing paperwork can be resolved with a simple photocopy.

Have tyres, fluids and general vehicle maintenance checked before travelling. Prepare what you need to take with you during the sea crossing according to the carrier's instructions; do not assume you can access the vehicle deck whenever you wish.
Complete insurance and vehicle entry under current requirements
Ask your insurer what cover your Turkish policy provides in North Cyprus. Confirm required motor insurance, its duration and other arrival procedures with an authorised source. Do not describe different circumstances such as short visits, student stays and long stays with a single insurance period.
Ask which documents issued at vehicle entry must be kept until departure. Do not equate the passenger's permitted stay with the vehicle's permission and conditions of use. If changing duration or driver becomes relevant, consult the authorised body instead of completing the procedure based on your own interpretation.
See the total cost of bringing your own car
List outbound and return passenger and vehicle tickets together with fuel to the departure port, road costs and accommodation if needed. Check whether insurance and other mandatory items are included in the quote. Using your own car on the island is a benefit; do not infer the entire journey cost from the ferry price alone.
