How to compare alcohol and perfume prices
Different sizes, product lines and boxed sets from the same brand may look like one product. For alcohol, record the full product name and bottle volume; for perfume, the name, concentration and millilitres together. Do not compare a single bottle with a gift set solely by the shelf price.
| Information to record | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Product line, volume and package contents | To compare the same product |
| Shop and checking date | To avoid treating an old price or another branch's price as current |
| Currency and total payment | To distinguish the label price from the amount charged |
| Multi-buy or membership conditions | To see whether the discount applies to your purchase |
| Carriage and destination-country rules | To avoid assuming a purchasable product can be carried under all circumstances |
For different sizes of the same product, divide the price in the same currency by the volume to obtain a unit price. However, a lower unit price on extra product you do not want does not reduce your total shopping budget. Do not assume “Cyprus is always cheap” or “duty free must be better value”.
Fit city shopping into your outing
Adding a short shopping stop to a harbour and old-street walk may be easier than a separate journey for one product. The central route is a useful place to shop near the end, so you do not carry heavy or fragile bags all day. See the location of Kyrenia Bandabulya in the city on the official visitor page ; check open shops and product availability on your visit date.
For local food and gifts, read the label, producer information, packaging and use-by conditions. Buy products needing refrigeration when you have suitable transport arrangements, rather than before a beach visit or long outing. When shopping for a house or student residence, list missing items first; do not carry duplicates of things already in the room.
Think about luggage space before accepting the bag
The number of suitcases and remaining space matter as much as passenger numbers. Remember that luggage which fitted on the outward journey may grow with shopping on the return. Ask the shop about suitable packing for glass bottles, liquids and fragile goods; separately check that packaging complies with your airline's rules.
Do not leave purchases visible inside the car. Keep valuables and documents in a separate bag that is easy to account for at vehicle collection or return. Recording the receipt and full product label before leaving the shop makes price comparisons and any return request clearer.
Separate purchasing, flight and customs checks
If returning to Türkiye, check the Turkish Ministry of Trade's passenger exemptions page for the product category and quantity conditions. Do not assume alcohol, cosmetics and food share the same rule. For another destination country, use its official customs information.
Airline cabin and checked-baggage rules are a separate check. If connecting, ask the airline about taking liquids through security again and sealed-bag and receipt requirements. A shop assistant being able to sell a product does not resolve all connection or arrival-customs conditions. Verify quantity and liquid limits before shopping.
Keep your departure-day sequence intact
First reach the confirmed car return location and complete the vehicle and personal-belongings checks. After the terminal transfer and flight formalities, assess your remaining time. Do not delay heading to the gate to finish airport shopping.
If you want to browse many shelves and shops, separating city shopping from flight day gives more flexibility. Open the seven-step car return checklist on your phone. If planning a tasting or dinner with alcohol, do not drive afterwards; consider shopping alongside a safe return arrangement.
