Distinguish similar names and different cities
Girne American University and the University of Kyrenia are two different institutions. Typing “Kyrenia university” into a search does not guarantee you will reach the correct campus. Use the full institution and department name on your appointment; match the navigation pin to official contact information.
| Institution | Location on the official contact page | Before you go |
|---|---|---|
| Girne American University | Karmi Campus, Karaoğlanoğlu, Kyrenia | Ask which department handles your business and which entrance visitors use |
| University of Kyrenia | Şehit Yahya Bakır Street, Karakum, Kyrenia | Do not confuse registration, faculty and hospital addresses |
| Final International University | Beşparmaklar Avenue No. 6, Çatalköy, Kyrenia | Save the campus and your residence locations separately |
Not all universities in North Cyprus are in Kyrenia. For example, Eastern Mediterranean University publishes its official address as Famagusta. If you are visiting that institution, reconsider accommodation before assuming a daily journey from Kyrenia.
Campus visits, moving in and graduation have different schedules
A short campus visit
Make an appointment with the department you will visit; ask which gate visitors use and whether documents are required. If visiting several institutions on the same day, order the addresses on a map. Do not squeeze one campus's introductory meeting immediately before another's registration time.
Moving in and registration
First establish which department handles the procedure, then the time you can collect residence or house keys. Do not take the whole family on a large shopping trip before knowing when luggage can be left safely. Obtain registration paperwork, payment and academic requirements from the university's own student affairs office.
Graduation
Confirm whether the ceremony is on campus or in another venue, guest admission and entry time. Student preparations and family entry may be at different times. If the finishing time is uncertain, arrange a flexible return plan with someone you can contact.
A two-stage example plan for moving in
Arrival day: Travel from the airport to accommodation, attend any necessary first meeting and leave the luggage. On entering the residence or home, check the bed, study area and everyday supplies. Plan shopping after making a list of what is missing; buying everything beforehand may create both extra carrying and repeat shopping.
The next available day: Remaining university procedures, arranging the residence or home, and shopping from the list. This example does not mean every institution completes registration or hands over residence rooms on the same day. The shopping guide helps separate everyday needs from sightseeing and return luggage.
Consider family, luggage and daily journeys together
If the university offers a welcome or shuttle service, ask whether it covers accompanying family members, your flight and luggage. Do not assume a service offered to students automatically covers the whole family. Assess airport collection separately from the next day's campus-to-residence journey.
If considering a car, provide the number of people, suitcases, boxes and any child seats together. Luggage arrangement and vehicle selection explains this in detail. With extra belongings, establish beforehand whether rear seats will carry passengers or luggage; do not rely on unconfirmed capacity.
Discuss transport after the family returns home too
The family's short-stay car plan and the student's term-time transport need not use the same solution. Help the student learn the campus shuttle, the relationship between residence and classrooms, and everyday stops. If accommodation is still being chosen, use the area comparison based on the actual campus address.
If the family visit turns into house-hunting or a long stay, move to the long-stay transport guide. If considering rental-car delivery to a hotel or home, read the address and delivery preparations; do not automatically assume delivery is available within a campus or at a particular residence.
